I thought that it solved my problem because when I went to change the color display, I had all my options restored like im used to(ie, more color options than 640x480). Normally, and especially in a case where your computer has come pre-configured from the manufacturer, this will already have been done. Be sure that it's all hooked up and after booting the door opens and closes. That being said, some people are persistent, and if you're really looking to reinstall your entire operating system, I certainly won't stop you. I got it sorted myself after a bit of messing with it. When I got it home and set it up again, I still couldn't change the resolution.
